little ze, singing beyonce's "single ladies (put a ring on it)" on the phone is as cute/awesome as you imagine it would be. apparently he does the dance, too. i'm not a fan of that tune, but i'm definitely a fan of the little gaffer's rendition. his version was pretty garbled, running on the strength of the fact that the kid looks like this:
but was calling out to all the single ladies, all the single ladies. my niece, never one to be outshined, insisted on coming on the phone and KNOCKING IT OUT OF THE PARK.
tonight for dinner i made a baked penne dish. i cooked off some penne (more than al dente because i didn't want it absorbing too much sauce and turning out dry during the baking part) and tossed it with frozen (and then defrosted) tomato-basil sauce i had made ages ago with some leftover small meatballs i had cooked off and frozen and defrosted and cut into quarters. i plopped on some ricotta and topped it all with a haystack of shredded mozzarella and baked it in the oven until the edge bits got all crusty and browned and the top was chewy. we had it with caesar salad and for dessert i'm treating myself to more caramel cake and a half mug of milk.
i finished reading "the watchmen" recently and a YA book...i don't have the energy tonight to do the watchmen justice. suffice to say that it has deservedly earned its' "one of the best comics of all time/groundbreaking/visionary" credentials. i'll get into more depth tomorrow...i want to be away from the ordinateur right now.
