you win this round, magic oven

i was all prepared to find magic oven guilty of all kinds of upscale-pizza related infractions: soggy crust, meager portions, ridiculous toppings, and the worst of all - no value for your dollar. unfortunately, the pizza was pretty flippin' fantastic. the pizza is smaller than the XL at mama's, so the portions are slightly less than what we're used to, but still satisfying for a friday night meal. there's a wide array of vegan pizzas, chicken pizzas, and meat and seafood pizzas with pre-configured toppings. now, in my universe, i have no truck with all of the above save the meat pizzas and a clam pizza. seriously, chicken on a pizza wigs me out. there's just no need for that shiz! chicken is SO BORING, you might as well put cubes of tofu on your pizza (don't even THINK about it!). they also have a lot of options for hippity dippity crusts: spelt, whole wheat (oil free, yeast free), and white. i wanted a whole wheat crust WITH oil and yeast, but for some reason they don't do that for XL, and i don't even know if they do whole wheat with the yeast and oil (which makes no sense to me, but whatever...i mean, can't i have leavened extra fibre in my pizza?) we ordered the "harmony magic" which is: olive oil, proscuitto, garlic, caramelized onion, spicy italian sausage, light mozzarella, gorgonzola and arugala. the crust (white) is FANTASTIC. light, thin, crunchy on the bottom, nicely golden (as if fried) but not greasy or oily in the least, and with an almost flaky quality. that combination of toppings with that crust was an unqualified winner. it ended up costing us $37, which is decent for takeout night...on the high end we end up spending at most, $15 per person so it's well within the takeout night budget. i was kinda pissed though cuz the waitress stole my change even though i walked in and picked up my pizza, in which case, i never tip, because well, i haven't been served. that's fair, right? next time she tries to pull that i'm going to be right on her.

today is homework and errands day, as my mum bailed on a proposed ball gown mission with me.

tonight for dinner we're having fish tacos. lightly floured tilapia pieces, pan fried and served in warm corn tortillas with guacamole, salsa, shredded lettuce, sour cream, etc. i might make a banana cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert, or rice krispie squares to use up the boatloads of marshmallows left over from the cottage.
